What is a domain name ?

Domain names are unique names that identify web sites and e-mail addresses. They are made up of 2 or more parts, separated by dots, e.g., sample.com or mail.sample.net. Domain names are used because they are relevant to the web sites they represent and because they are easy to remember. Each computer connected to the Internet has a unique number that identifies it, and with the correct number you can reach any web site. it's much easier to remember like www.domain.com than 127.0.0.0

What is the difference between domain registration and hosting?

Web hosting refers to the storing and sharing of web pages and other files and information for a web site. Domain name registration is the process by which a domain name is reserved for use.

What if someone is already using the domain name I want?

Domain names are unique, so only one owner can use them at a time. If someone has already registered the one you want, you can either attempt to contact them and make them an offer for the domain name, or you can try to find an alternate domain name (e.g., sample.net instead of sample.com)

How can I find out if the domain I want is available?

Use the "Check Availability" tool on our domain page to check if a domain name you want to register is available or not.

Can I register a domain name without web hosting?

Yes. Domain name registration and web hosting are separate services. A domain name can be used for e-mail without hosting a web site or just for redirecting to an existing site.

Can I change the domain name or can I rename it?

No, a domain once registered can not be changed or renamed.

If my registration fails, will you still charge me for that?

No, we will not charge you for failed registration orders.

How long does it take to get my domain name working?

Usually it takes 1 to 4 hours, depending on DNS propagation. This is because Internet Service Providers and Network Information Centers update their DNS information identified with your domain name at different times.

Can I transfer my existing domain to IndoUS Hosting ?

You can transfer existing domain by clicking “ Transfer a Domain “ link on our homepage. Please note that transfer includes one year extension in current expiration date.

I've hosted my domain with some other hosts, can I still use those DNS on the domains registered with you?

Yes, you can use 3^rd party DNS ( provided by your host / ISP ) with the domains registered with IndoUS Hosting.

How long does it take to transfer an existing domain to IndoUS Hosting ?

Usually domain transfer process takes about 3 to 7 days for a domain to be transferred.

Understanding Domain Transfer Process.

Get your domain UNLOCKED with current registrar. Each registrar has a means to allow you to UNLOCK your domain name online or you can request them to unlock your domain.
Make certain that the current admin contact email address is valid and working.
Obtain authorization code / EPP Code from current registrar for your domains.
IndoUS Hosting will send an e-mail is sent to the Administrative Contact listed in the current WHOIS record for the domain, requesting authorization to transfer the domain name registration to IndoUS Hosting. You may receive a second verification request from the losing registrar that must be completed with in XX hours.
The Administrative Contact has up to XX days to authorize or reject the transfer.

NOTE: If the Administrative Contact does not respond, the transfer will still continue!

Once IndoUS Hosting receives authorization from the Administrative Contact, the request is sent to the Registry, to initiate the transfer.
When the transfer is initiated, the current registrar has up to 5 days to deny the request, for certain reasons.
If the registrar does not deny the request, your domain will be transferred to IndoUS Hosting.

NOTE: Upon success transfer, current expiration date will be extended to one year for free.

There are certain reasons which cause your domain transfer request failed / cancelled.

The domain name is within 60 days of its initial registration.
Domain is Locked
Domain is Expired.
Administrative email listed on whois has not approved transfer approval email in timely manner.
Authorization / EPP code of the domain is incorrect.
Current registrar might cancel your transfer request.

What does DNS stand for and what does it mean?

DNS stands for Domain Name System. The DNS is a record, located at the registry, which converts IP addresses from numbers into names, i.e. 127.0.0.0 to www.domainname. This record tells a browser where your web site is located and also tells mail servers where to route your mail to. If the DNS isn't set up properly your domain name won't work.

Can I transfer my web hosting to IndoUS Hosting from another company?

Yes, you may transfer the domain name and the hosting both. Our trained staff can take care of that for you for "FREE".

Does my hosting plan expire beyond the time I paid for?

No, we auto-renew ALL hosting accounts. If you don't want to renew then you need to request cancellation before at least 15 days.

I purchased web hosting from IndoUS Hosting. What are the DNS names that I should use for my domain name?

ns5.indoushosting.com / ns6.indoushosting.com are the defaults. Basically you need to check the e-mail account attached with your order as we send all the hosting information to that e-mail address.

Since I purchased the web hosting from indoushosting.com, can't I just have you handle all of my questions and web hosting support issues?

How do I cancel my hosting account?

You need to contact the Sales guys. Request cancellation and include your account domain and User ID. Your hosting cancellation will be in effect within 15 days from the date we receive your request. ( Ticket system )

Can I access my e-mail with a web browser?

Yes. IndoUS Hosting offers a web-based interface so you can check your e-mail from any Internet connection via a web browser. You need to go to http://domainname/webmail to check your emails. Your POP e-mail accounts are always available for use with your favorite e-mail client software as well.

How much space do I have for my e-mail accounts?

That's up to you, provided that your web files and e-mail all fit within your total disk space allocation as defined by your plan.

Can I view attachments or HTML files with your web-based e-mail interface?

Yes. Indo US Hosting web-based e-mail interface is fully featured and allows access to all standard file types.

What is the maximum size for an e-mail attachment?

The largest attachment size our servers allow is 10 MB.

What kind of e-mail virus protection do you offer?

Our e-mail software scans all e-mail for file types likely to contain viruses, such as .exe, .pif, .eml malwares etc.

What kind of spam protection do you offer?

We have configurable spam blockers and filters, including SpamAssasin, so you can control and set the level of protection to meet your needs.

Can I change my hosting plan? Can I upgrade/downgrade?

What is SPAM?
